The "Belvédère" in Park Sonsbeek, #Arnhem (Gelderland), is a 19th-century observation tower commissioned by Baron H.J.C.J. van Heeckeren van Enghuizen, who acquired the park in 1821. Constructed between 1824 and 1826, the tower originally stood at 24 meters and was later elevated by 5.6 meters in the 1950s to rise above the growing tree canopy. Situated atop the 70-meter-high Ruyterenberg hill near De Ronde Weide, its peak reaches approximately 100 meters above sea level, comparable to the height of Arnhem's Sint-Eusebiuskerk. Accessible to the public via a 140-step spiral staircase, the Belvédère offers panoramic views; on clear days, visitors can see as far as Tiel, Nijmegen, and Emmerich in Germany.
