The "Oude Vismijn" in #Gent (Oost-Vlaanderen) is one of the city's oldest markets. Originally located at the current Groentenmarkt, it was relocated in 1689 to the Sint-Veerleplein. The baroque gatehouse, designed by Adriaan Van Der Linden based on Arthur Quellyn's plans, was adorned with sea god statues. After a fire in 1872, only the statue of Neptune by Guy Helderberg was preserved; the others were replaced. A covered market hall was added for selling fish, meat, and vegetables. The building received neo-gothic facades in anticipation of the 1913 World's Fair.
