"Kasteel van Woerden", constructed between 1407 and 1415 by Duke Jan van Beieren in #Woerden (Utrecht), is a square fortress featuring an inner courtyard, three round towers, and one rectangular tower. Originally built to defend against the Bishop of Utrecht, it played a key role during the Siege of Woerden (1575-1576) and suffered damage in 1672 during the French occupation. Over the centuries, it has served various functions, including as a military prison, hospital, and clothing depot.
