"Hof van Veltwijck" is a 16th-century water castle in #Ekeren (Antwerpen), built around 1564 by Aert van Veltwijck as a leisure estate. Originally a square moat-surrounded complex with slender corner towers, it fell into decay during the 158-85 Siege of Antwerp, exacerbated by military flooding. In the mid-18th century, owner Cornelis de Winter remodeled it into a U-shaped layout, removing the north wing. Around 1905, Baroness de Borrekens added a second floor to the main wing. The castle features a vaulted courtyard, service wings, two sluices (one from 1861) and a beech-lined driveway.
