The town hall of #Elsene (Brussel) is a 19th-century neoclassical building. Originally named "Pavillon Malibran", it was commissioned in 1833 by Maria Malibran, a renowned opera singer, through architect Charles Vander Straeten. After Malibran's death, her partner Charles de Bériot sold it in 1849 to the Elsene municipality for 82,500 francs. The building was converted into a town hall, with its garden becoming the public square. Modifications included a clock on the roof, a basement prison, an extension in the 1860s-1870s, a police station in 1890, and decorative facade upgrades in 1905-1910.
