An office building in #Amsterdam (Noord-Holland), constructed in 1888-89, was designed in Dutch neo-renaissance style by A.L. van Gendt for the trading association "Amsterdam". Rising from a rusticated hardstone basement, the eight-bay elevation features a piano nobile and two upper floors beneath a shingled gable roof. The central two bays project forward, crowned by a Vredeman de Vries-style gable, while smaller corner gables add balance. An ornate entrance in the rightmost bays spans basement and piano nobile, framed by a richly paneled door and leaded-glass transom. Rectangular windows throughout include leaded transoms, with upper-floor examples set under profiled architraves. A projecting cornice, supported by elaborate consoles, tops the facade, giving way to an attic zone with the gables.
