Description

"Huis Brabo" in #Antwerpen, designed in 1896 by E. Van Waeterschoodt, was part of a four-building corner ensemble commissioned by the "Naamlooze Maatschappij". This company, founded in 1886, aimed to develop Zurenborg into an upscale residential area with eclectic, ornate designs. The monumental corner building with a café was demolished, leaving only the neoclassical house in Pretoriastraat and Huis Brabo, a double house in eclectic Flemish neo-renaissance style. Featuring a varied slate roof, yellow and red brickwork, decorative anchors, faience tiles, and a bronze Brabo statue, it has a preserved front garden. The interior includes a central vestibule, neoclassical salon, and a dining room with a wooden beam ceiling.
