"De Ridder" in #Maastricht stands next to the ancient Bisschopsmolen, a Prince-Bishop of Liège ban mill recorded since 1099 and converted into a malt mill for local breweries from the 15th century onward. A dwelling already existed here in the 14th century. In 1651 tenant Andries Loeff purchased it, demolished the old structure, and rebuilt the house, extending a rear room over the Jeker stream behind Ridderstraat. It exemplifies classic Maasland architecture of the Maastricht-Liège-Aachen valley: brick facade on a Namur bluestone plinth, with marlstone bands, window surrounds and corner quoins.
