Constructed in: 1885
Typology: town hall
Architects: G. Pártos Ö. Lechner J. Fischer
The town hall of #Zrenjanin is located on Liberty Square. After a massive 1807 fire razed nearly the entire city, including the old county building, construction of the new structure began in 1816 and was completed in 1820 under architect Joseph Fischer. From 1885 to 1887, renowned Budapest architects Gyula Pártos and Ödön Lechner carried out a major reconstruction, adding symmetrical wings, modernizing the facade in neo-baroque style, installing a new balcony, and crowning it with Zsolnay roof tiles.
