"Ulmer Münster" in #Ulm rose from a 14th‑century citizen‑funded project to create a grand church within the city walls. Built largely of brick with a soaring sandstone tower, it embodies late Gothic ambition: a vast nave, intricate vaults, and the world’s tallest church spire. Construction halted in 1543 amid religious and economic upheaval, leaving the towers unfinished until the 19th century. The medieval structure survived WWII with only minor damage.
