"Mole Antonelliana" is an iconic landmark in #Turin, designed by Alessandro Antonelli. Begun in 1863 as a synagogue right after Italian unification, costs & ambitious height changes caused the community to abandon it. The city of Turin took over & completed it in 1889. This eclectic structure (blending neoclassical and neo-gothic elements) reaches 167.5 m, featuring a granite base, massive spiraling dome/temple structure, lantern & spire. It was Europe's tallest brick building at completion & remains the world's tallest unreinforced masonry structure.
