The "Basilica Cattedrale Patriarcale di San Marco" in #Venice began in the 9th century to house St Mark's relics, stolen from Alexandria. The current structure, the third on the site, started ~1063 in Byzantine style, modeled on Constantinople's Church of the Holy Apostles. It has a Greek-cross plan with five domes and blends Byzantine, romanesque, Islamic influences, plus later gothic elements.
