"Durham Cathedral", a cathedral built in Norman romanesque architecture, was built in #Durham mainly between 1093 and 1133 to house St Cuthbert's shrine, replacing an earlier Anglo-Saxon church. It features massive pillars, the earliest large-scale pointed rib vaults (foreshadowing gothic style), and thick walls. Later additions include the Galilee Chapel and perpendicular gothic tower.
