The "Catedral-Basílica de Nuestra Señora del Pilar" in #Zaragoza is a major baroque cathedral. Tradition holds that the Virgin Mary appeared to St. James on a pillar here in 40 AD, making it one of the oldest Marian shrines. Multiple churches preceded it: early chapel, romanesque (12th-13th c.), then gothic-mudéjar. The current vast structure began in 1681 under Charles II, designed by architects like Francisco Herrera el Mozo and Felipe Sánchez. Expanded in the 18th century by Ventura Rodríguez, it measures 130m x 67m with 11 colorful tiled domes, four towers, three barrel-vaulted naves, and red-brick exterior.
