Description

"Carondelet Castle", also known as "Château de Crupet", is a medieval moated castle in #Crupet (Namen), Belgium. While some sources trace its origins to the 11th or 12th century, architectural features suggest the early 13th century. Initially, it consisted of a massive keep surrounded by a deep moat and belonged to the Count of Luxembourg. In the 14th century, it came under the Prince-Bishop of Liège. In 1549, the Carondelet family acquired it and expanded it, adding an overhanging floor with a pyramidal roof and outbuildings. Later, in 1629 or 1667, it passed to the Merode family.
