Description

The Gasthuistoren in Zaltbommel is a slender brick tower from the second half of the 15th century, located at Oude Vismarkt 1. It is characterized by a square structure accompanied by a substantial round stair tower, crowned with an open lantern and a pear-shaped spire added in 1530. In 1654, the renowned Hemony brothers cast a carillon for the tower, which is still played live by city carillonneurs on Tuesday mornings and Friday evenings. The tower is part of the former Gasthuis complex, which also includes the Gasthuiskapel, a 15th-century chapel that now serves as a cultural center.
