"Château de Spontin", located in #Spontin, Yvoir (Namur), Belgium, is a medieval castle built between the 12th and 16th centuries. Originally a defensive tower constructed by Pierre de Beaufort between 1266 and 1284, it evolved into a fortified residence under his son Guillaume, who was granted the fiefdom of Spontin after the Battle of Worringen in 1288. Situated on the border between the County of Namur and the Principality of Liège, the castle withstood multiple assaults but was never captured. In the 16th century, it acquired its current form. Later modifications transformed it into a residence, including the addition of windows, red brick accents, and gothic revival elements in the 19th century.
