Description

A Flemish neo-renaissance house in #BaarleHertog (Antwerpen), now a hotel. The irregular double house has two stories under a complex roof (ridge parallel to the street, with mechanical tiles and slates) featuring dormers. It combines brick and sandstone stepped and gable facades on a cemented and bluestone plinth, finished with a wooden cornice on modillions and decorative wrought iron top ornaments. Decorative wall anchors are present. A central stepped tower has an iron weathervane with the initials JvdV. Rectangular, segmental, and basket-arched window and door openings are enhanced with colorful faience arch fields (Belgian colors) and/or relieving arches of green-glazed brick.
