The Belfry of Ghent is a 95-meter-high medieval tower in the center of Gent (Oost-Vlaanderen), Belgium, and is the middle tower of the famous Ghent tower row, alongside Saint Nicholas' Church and Saint Bavo's Cathedral. Construction likely began before 1313, with four of the six planned levels completed by 1323. Between 1377 and 1380, a temporary wooden spire was added, atop which the legendary "Dragon of Ghent" was placed. Over the centuries, the spire underwent several modifications, including a neo-Gothic cast-iron spire in 1851. In anticipation of the 1913 World's Fair, a new stone spire was constructed based on medieval designs.
