The "Gevangenpoort" in #Woudrichem (Noord-Brabant), the only surviving water gate of the city’s fortifications, was built after the 1573 city fire as part of the 1580 ramparts. In the Middle Ages, Woudrichem had five city gates. The gate features a protruding oriel tower at its northeast corner. In the 19th century, it served as a prison and was drawn by Isaac Weissenbruch.
