Description

The town hall of #Bree (Limburg), Belgium, is a historic building with a façade from 1755. Originally called the "Gewanthuis", it housed the city council, court, city guard, and markets. Built between 1587-1591 with a slate roof and partial brick walls, it served magistrates, judiciary, militia, and fire brigade. The façade was updated in 1647 and rebuilt in 1755 in Louis XIV style with a rococo pediment, featuring a relief of Saint Michael fighting a dragon and three coats of arms: Bree, the Austrian emperor, and Johan Theodoor of Bavaria, then prince-bishop of Liège.
