"De Grote Sterre" is a grand 15th-century late-gothic patrician house in #Damme (West-Vlaanderen), rebuilt 1993-96 after near-total destruction in a 1990 storm. Originally two deep merchant houses ("De Sterre," 1478; "Het Crayenest," 1461) replacing 13th-century wooden structures, merged pre-1594. It served as a Spanish governors' residence (1615–18th c.), It has paired brick gables with gothic niches and tracery, a Tudor-arched door, and Van der Stricht coat of arms ("PACEM OPTO"). The 13th-century vaulted cellars preserved.
