Ekenstein

Description

"Ekenstein" is a historic borg (manor house) in #Tjamsweer (Groningen), built in 1648 by physician Johan Eeck and his wife. It passed through families like Doornbos, Modderman, and Alberda, who expanded it in 1772 with a moat and renovated it multiple times. In 1827, an English landscape park was added by designer Roodbaard. In 1870, it gained a neo-gothic look using parts from demolished borgen, with unique polychrome interiors.
