Description

The "Daneliuska Huset" rises on a sharp wedge plot in central Östermalm in #Stockholm, crowned by a steeply pitched conical tower clad in copper and topped with a tall lantern. Its richly sculptured limestone facade draws from early French Renaissance châteaux of the Loire Valley (like Azay-le-Rideau and Chenonceaux), featuring bay windows, balconies, gables, putti, animal heads, bird nests, and roaring panthers guarding the base. Architect Erik Josephson designed this luxurious 1898-1900 residential block for salmon wholesaler Bror August Danelius, who lived in one of the grand apartments adorned with Georg Pauli murals. Blue-marked for its exceptional cultural-historical value.
