"Santuario de Las Lajas" in #Ipiales is a unique neo-gothic minor basilica built into the Guáitara River canyon. Origins trace to an 18th-century miracle apparition of the Virgin Mary (1754 legend). An early shrine existed; the current structure was constructed in 1916-1949, funded by local donations, replacing prior chapels. It was constructed in neo-gothic style with flying buttresses, spires, stained glass, and vaulted interiors. The architect is Lucindo María Espinosa Medina.
